As ever with Green Toys, they use the recycled cardboard packaging to best effect and instead of photographs of the product from various angles, they tell us who they are.
I love that this set is really nicely coloured, and in fact it's fairly thick plastic (the casserole dish is surprisingly heavy). It doesn't make it dangerous though - the cutlery might look sharp, but it's really bendy and safe.
Everything has a textured surface, similar to the milk bottles it's created from, so it's tactile and interesting to hold, and very non-slip. It also gives it a warmth that plastic doesn't usually have.
Green Toys can all be thoroughly submerged, and are even suitable for washing in a dishwasher if you wish - they are safe for food. This makes them especially ideal for this sort of play toy. Whose children haven't ever put real food into a play food set? I know all of mine have!
We love this set. It feels so nice to play with. The cups and pans are so solid they feel like great quality. The texture of the cups means that every time an adult in our house is handed a 'cup of tea', we end up cradling the cup.
I've eaten lots of the Green Toys Pizza veg and cheese and salad this week. And I've also watched lots of TV starring my 5 year old! Seems like even at nearly 6, sometimes the box is as much fun as the toy...
The Green Toys Recycled Plastic Cookware & Dining Set retails at £34.99. It's a lovely set, and will last for years. The handles aren't flimsy, and the plastic won't crack. I think it's not cheap, but if I'd bought it my daughter when she was little, I would still be using it with my sons now - and it's so lovely to touch and play with!

I really love the look of this set. I've been looking for a tea set for my girl and this is definitely on the list. It's so substantial and looks great - no pink flowers to be seen!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous. Next time you come round have a feel of the cups! :D
DeleteLove the look of the set! The colours look great for unisex. Also they look very real! Fab.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are great. I didn't even consider the unisex thing until you and Pippa pointed it out :)
DeleteI love this set - I love Green Toys! Perfect for the garden, so durable and great colours. I also LOVE your table! It's obviously functional but looks very retro too and oh so academic! x
ReplyDeleteHahaha...it's a cutting board! The table is one we bought 2nd hand because it looked so crazy - it's in the shape of 2 giant books on top of each other. The top was wearing away, so we put the cutting board (genuine 80's) on top to protect it :D
DeleteAm loving how bright this set is - sounds like it has been very much enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteIt really has. The boys hadn't played with that cooker in 6 months, and they've played with it all this week! :)
DeleteI really like the look of these Green Toys. I know my two would love this for their play kitchen. It is great that you can feel safe giving them actual food in it too!
ReplyDeleteReally Great post
