The Tiny Me Wooden Name Block Puzzles were launched earlier this year with crowd funding using kickstarter. I must admit that with the events that have taken place here, I hadn't actually seen them properly before I ordered and I wasn't expecting my puzzle to arrive complete with a gorgeous thick felt storage case.
I'd chosen my background design, font, colour scheme and the all-important wording online, plus an extra block for personalisation at one end. The Name Block Puzzles are available for anything from 4 to 9 blocks.
My 4 year old chose a lizard, and despite the lack of natural light in Manchester in November, hopefully you can tell the blue and green colour scheme in the gorgeous muted shades with subtle background patterns that typify Tiny Me's products.
The puzzle comes with 2 different slide-in inserts, so that if your child is younger (they're suited for children aged 18 months and over) and just learning to recognise the letters in their name, they can use the patterns and colours to help until they become more proficient.
I did make an error with my choice of font I think. The Z and K are actually very stylised and not ideal for children who are just beginning to learn to read. This is well worth bearing in mind when ordering - most of the available fonts are nice and plain!
My son is delighted. He loves it and is really pleased with himself because his 6 year old brother has helped him to spell all kinds of different 'words' using his name blocks - he was most pleased with 'eek'!
The Tiny Me Wooden Name Block Puzzle starts at £22 for a 4 piece puzzle, ours was £23.50 - it's definitely better value for more pieces. This isn't so much a small child's jigsaw puzzle, as a keepsake that you'd treasure forever, and it makes a gorgeous Christmas gift for that friend or relative whose child already has everything they could need.

DeleteI have a couple questions on it. Can the blocks only go into the correct circle or can it be placed into any order which would spell the childs name incorrectly? Also do you feel like a two year old would enjoy this gift?
ReplyDeleteHiya Kate, I think this is an excellent gift for a 2 year old as they'll have it while they learn to spell and write their own name. The last photo shows that they can put the letters into the wrong order, but with the cards below they'll be 'copying' what they see, and will know it's wrong - which my son found hilarious.
