It wasn't entirely a surprise - this is the 4th year running that I've had the latest Lego Winter Village set for my birthday. I'd have been incredibly disappointed if I hadn't had it to add to my collection.
Now begins the many hours of putting it all together ready for Christmas. I love it, I really do. I've started already...
To celebrate my birthday and my new Lego I thought I'd offer my readers some Lego stockingfillers. I have 3 x Lego 40054 Summer Scene packs to give away - 1 each to 3 winners. No longer available from Lego it can remind you of Sunnier times while it's cold outside. They have a very special feature, aside from the man on a sun lounger and the parasol.....you see it?
.....Yes indeed, you can win your very own Brick Castle....
.....Yes indeed, you can win your very own Brick Castle....
As if that wasn't enough, I'm also offering the first prize winner one of our favourite Lego sets from the Monster Fighters range too - 9461 The Swamp Creature.

Ummm, as soon as you can sit up? Seriously though, we have Lego for our three year old for Christmas as he is loving playing with it at the moment.
ReplyDeletei think about 6 when they learn how to play without help!
ReplyDeleteall ages for sure! Those little sets are cute! xxx (Rebecca Beesley)
ReplyDeleteFrom about 3 or 4+ depending on ability, then up to old age!! I don't think there is really an age to grow out of it.
ReplyDeleteAny age...ok maybe 3-111 ;-) Everyone loves Lego! I still have a big ol chest full of it given to me by my nan when I was five, I'm 33 now and the kids still love it! Great giveaway, thanks! :-) xxxx
ReplyDeletefrom age 3+ but before that duplo lego
ReplyDeleteAround 5-6 yo. I love Lego and am trying to get my son into it.
ReplyDeleteAny age - start with the huge Duplo bricks and dont stop till yr grandkids are too old! :D
ReplyDeleteAny age, I love it now and im 34, my kids love it too. x
ReplyDeleteAbout 3; the bricks are too small otherwise.
ReplyDeleteAll ages over 3 :D Duplo for the younger ones, hehe
ReplyDeleteMy son had a Lego collection before he was born, it was one of the first things I bought. He's still at Duplo stage, we probably introduced Duplo just before his first birthday
ReplyDeleteLewis started his collection aged 2 but prob didn't start to build things properly til 3 & 1/2!! @jillytinsel
ReplyDeletewell my kids are between 4 and 13 an all love lego then im 33 and can lose hours playing with it and fixing broken sets so but i think around 6 is the age kids start to really get into it
ReplyDeleteI'd say any age from 3+
ReplyDeleteDepending and on the lego and the child from 3 years but Duplo before.
ReplyDeleteThe ideal age to play with LEGO? Definitely 29, just a coincidence that I'm currently at that age.... ;)
ReplyDeleteI think between 6-8 is the best age! (reatex123 on twitter)
ReplyDeleteAbout 4+
ReplyDelete4+ (under 4's can play with Duplo!)
ReplyDeleteFrom age 3+ depending on child I think
ReplyDeleteI would say from age 3
ReplyDeleteAshleigh
I'd say 4+ but lego duplo before. My 20m twins have just started enjoying duplo x
ReplyDeleteAny age from about 4 to about 94, and there's Duplo for little uns.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDuplo is brilliant for little Lego fans, and then Lego, depending on the set and style is perfect for ages 4 through to 104! Some sets / styles are catered more for older children, but 'normal' Lego is brilliant for anyone!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as they can safely, it without putting it into their mouths!
ReplyDeleteI would say around 3-4 years upwards :)
ReplyDelete18+ months
ReplyDeleteAll ages! It help with imagination, Hand Eye coordination, learning colours for younger kids.
ReplyDeleteFrom 3 + to old age i say,i still play with my grandkids Lego at 70.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as you are old enough to enjoy it and there's definitely no upper limit!
ReplyDeleteWith my son it is at his age now which is 6. He is more confident to make things from scratch and is really enjoying making space stations.
ReplyDeleteAge 3+ for the smaller bits of lego
ReplyDeletekimneville_1969@yahoo.co.uk
3+ little ones have a habit of putting everything in their mouths....;)
ReplyDeleteMy son was 2 and a half my daughters just turned 18 months and will sit and play for hours with it :) (supervised of course else she'd have lego in her nappy'
ReplyDeleteMy son had some bought him for his 4th birthday and he loved it and for his 5th birthday thats all he wanted :-)
ReplyDeletemy little boy has been playing from the age of about 4 but hes 7 now and loves it more than ever!
ReplyDeleteit comes in bigger blocks too and my husband seems to enjoy it so i'd say from birth onwards...very onwards
ReplyDeleteStaring from three up to adulthood
ReplyDelete5+ sounds about right
ReplyDeleteFrom age 4 till whenever you want (I've been known to play with my kids lego when they're in bed)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter started showing a proper interest in her brother's lego about the age of 4, ie: making structures and objects, before she would just demolish her brother's work!
ReplyDeleteits for all ages but i think my son started playing with it when he was 5
ReplyDeletei think 5 above your never to old to play with lego ;)
ReplyDeleteThe ideal age? As soon as you aren't going to shove the pieces up your nostrils till.. well forever? Seriously age 4+ I'd say for the little proper lego, and there's no upper age on it! x
ReplyDelete4 onwards for Lego
ReplyDeleteMy son had Duplo from 18 months.
age 2 for the big pieces and nice bright colours but than it grows as the child grows infact when my first child was born we didnt say its a boy to my parents but you can buy a lego railway now as they said if it was a boy that is what they would do, and true to their word they did. Now I am buying for my grandchildren
ReplyDelete@bella97p
all ages, my son started at about 3 years old & still plays with it at 13 - I also join in too!
ReplyDeleteI think duplo for ages 2+ and then big LEGO from about age 5 or 6. But really, LEGO is fab so, so long as you're sensible with it, anyone can enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteMy sons liked Lego from 3 years old. I think any age is the best age, I still like Lego now. :)
ReplyDeleteDuplo 2 +, Lego 4 +
ReplyDeleteI think they can start with proper LEGO around 3 or 4 but then it lasts forever! My husband still loves playing it with Ethan
ReplyDeleteMy little one is 2 and loves playing with lego....as do I!
ReplyDeleteage 3 their imagination is amazing and they can create such an array of things.
ReplyDeleteI think my boys got really into Lego when they were 3, so I would say from 3 until 103!
ReplyDelete3+
ReplyDeleteI reckon about 4 as thats when they grow out of duplo and want to experiment and explore other things
ReplyDeleteany age!!! but 3 is probably about right, good for hand /eye coordination
ReplyDelete@sarah_punter
I think 5+ is a good age.
ReplyDelete5+ I think and Duplo for the little ones!

ReplyDeleteAt about age 3.
ReplyDelete@pphil10
3 to 103! Lego is fab!
ReplyDeleteLaura Harris
Any age from that point where kids stop sticking things in their mouths. And I don't just mean kids. My sisters & I love it, & my dad loves it. It is one of those toys where it enjoyable to help the kids play, Even if they love breaking it up as much as building.
ReplyDelete@DisaDisamo
Id say 4+, as soon as they can manage holding the little pieces and putting them together.
ReplyDelete21, because that's when you really start to appreciate it :)
ReplyDeletefrom 3 to 103!
ReplyDelete3+
ReplyDeletefrom 3 but imagination soars at 7
ReplyDeleteI'd say 5 years onwards for the smallest lego and 2 years for the biggest lego.
ReplyDelete3+ depending on the size of the lego
ReplyDeleteAll ages from 3+. My sister loves lego building and she's 51!!
ReplyDeleteFrom age 3 or as long as you're sure they wont put it in their mouth
ReplyDeleteFrom whenever a youngster learns not to try to eat it to any age. Our whole family loves it and this spans several generations.
ReplyDelete37 is the ideal age if you ask me ;-) Big man would probably say 5+ tho!
ReplyDeleteMy 4 year old loves it. He struggled to get the pieces together when he was younger.
ReplyDeleteLego is great at all ages. Whether your're a baby crawling around sucking on huge Duplo bricks, to an OAP building huge train tracks for the great grand kids.
ReplyDeleteprobably from about 5 when they're not going to be putting small pieces in their mouths
ReplyDeleteI'd say 4+ for the normal lego but our daughter used to try and play with sons lego when she was only about 2 (under supervision of course). There is no upper age limit on lego, I still love it now :)
ReplyDeleteAs soon as you stop trying to chew everything you see ...
ReplyDeleteDuplo Lego is suitable from 18 months. My daughter who is nearly 3 loves her Duplo. My son who is almost 6 was never that bothered with Lego but has now got into it in a big way and there are several lego city sets on his Christmas List!!!
ReplyDeletei think fro around 4 but if your with the child and they are enjoying it then before that age can be fun. as my son has got older , the way he plays with the lego has changed. mega stuff that goes on for years
ReplyDeleteAny age!!!
ReplyDeletestarting age is when you know the little darlings won shove it in their mouths but right up until any age after that! my gran who is 90 loves playing with it along with my son :)
ReplyDeleteKaren colquhoun
Ben is 4 & is really starting to get into his Lego now. He follows the picture instructions & has the fine motor skills to manipulate it all.
ReplyDelete4+
ReplyDeleteIt says 3+, but I'm not sure if that might be a bit young. My daughter is 20 mths and likes Lego but some pieces are way too small for my liking!
ReplyDeleteFrom age 3 onwards up to 99 :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd say about 3 but there's no upper limit Lol
ReplyDelete42, I am certain!
ReplyDelete4/5 years+ I'd say
ReplyDelete3+ as some pieces can be small
ReplyDeleteMy son has been playing with his Lego and building his collection since he was 5
ReplyDeleteBy about 7 mine could follow the instructions and build them independently.
ReplyDelete6-8 years is best as your skills have developed enough to really create something brilliant.
ReplyDelete0 - 90!
ReplyDeleteFrom about 3 years upwards I would say :) I still play with my sons now.x
ReplyDeletefrom about 3 or 4
ReplyDelete32 cos that's my age and I loooove lego!
ReplyDeleteabout 3or 4 but only if you are there to make sure they dont put small pieces in there mouth
ReplyDeleteNever too young or old for Lego!
ReplyDeleteSomething for any age
ReplyDeleteI would say 4+
ReplyDeleteAs soon as you can fit 2 duplo blocks together - Under 2 in the case of my kids, until you are an adult. I love lego!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a best age, Lego is for all ages. My 21 year old still loves it (although doesn't have a box full any longer lol)
ReplyDelete3 years and upwards. I loved Lego as a child and still love it with the same passion now as a mother
ReplyDeleteany age depending on the size of the lego pieces
ReplyDeleteAll the 5 year olds I know LOVE Lego x
ReplyDelete4+
ReplyDeleteI think 5+ as its easier to handle and build without help x
ReplyDeleteFrom about a year old if it is the big duplo bricks
ReplyDeleteI would think about 3 - 4 depending on the child but my12 year old granddaughter and her Dad still love it too
ReplyDeleteWhen they're old enough not to leave it lying around on the floor to stand on with bare feet! Apart from that, 6 upwards :-)
ReplyDelete3+ FOR DUPLO & 5+ FOR LEGO
ReplyDelete3 or 4 with no upper age limit!
ReplyDelete4 tears and upwards x
ReplyDeleteThe best time to play with it is between the ages of 3 and 103, especially around the 30 mark!
ReplyDeleteI would say 3 just because I know how much my 3 year old loves lego!
I think Duplo to start with and then around 4-5 get on to the Lego
ReplyDeleteMine have had duplo since they were about 2 and some lego from 3years.
ReplyDeleteAny age from 5 onwards! especially for the big kids!
ReplyDelete5 and upwards
ReplyDeletestart with lego duplo from 2
ReplyDelete5+, too fiddly otherwise.
ReplyDelete5+
ReplyDeleteAny age, everyone likes Lego, even me!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'd say any age from about 3/4 onwards. Though there's always Duplo for the younger ones. I remember playing with Lego when I was very young, and my other half still loves to build things now, in his 30s.
ReplyDeleteAny age really although i would say probably from about 3+ when they will enjoy it properly.
ReplyDeletefrom about age 3/4+ upwards
ReplyDeleteLego has products suitable for all ages,0-adult,simple and large enough for teething tots right through to complex fiddly "bits"to make older bods grind their teeth.
ReplyDeleteabout 1 with duplo
ReplyDeleteI think it's great for all ages, my nephews are 5 and 10 and Mr M is 36 and they all love it ... I even have a go myself sometimes! x
ReplyDeleteFrom ages 3 up. With the different sizes there is no need to worry about the small pieces. Then as they grow up the amount the can play with and make increases.
ReplyDelete(crochet addictuk) susand1408 at gmail dot com
Lego is ageless and timeless you just have to make sure you get the duplo for the littlies
ReplyDeleteMy 2 year old loves Lego, so any age at all!
ReplyDeleteages 3 - 150, I enjoy playing with lego and was even part of a lego club at university.
ReplyDeletestarting from 3-4yrs it's quite small pieces :)
ReplyDeleteI would say 3+ to over 100 years old.
ReplyDeleteDuplos until they don't mouth everything 3/4 and up for Legos
ReplyDeleteFrom 3 to forever!
ReplyDeleteFrom 4 I think
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was 2 when we first bought her some Lego, prior to that, she had Lego Duplo
ReplyDeleteFrom 3/4 I would say
ReplyDeleteI'd say Duplo from about 2 and Lego from about 4 to 104!
ReplyDeleteduplo from 2, and then as look as the 'lego' moves you keep enjoying it- so no one age.
ReplyDeletefrom about 4 approx but mine loved it straight away, as soon as they dont want swallow the bricks lol
ReplyDeletemy 7 year old loves it and has been playing with it from the age of 4
ReplyDeleteProbably from about 3 or 4
ReplyDeleteMy 14mth old loves Lego (Duplo), as does my 3yo. But the "proper" Lego, I'd say about 5.
ReplyDeleteMy little guy who is 19 months is fantastic with lego but my 3 year isn't quite so good
ReplyDeleteI'd say between 5 - 8 @criscurran
ReplyDelete3+ i still love playing with it now :)
ReplyDeleteAny age! (Alexandra Mercer)
ReplyDeleteAnything over 3 is good age for lego. The adults have more fun with it in my experience
ReplyDeleteI think from 4 years onwards - youre well past the putting in mouth stage and the imagination is really starting to flow x
ReplyDeleteThey make lego for all ages - so as soon as your child wont try and eat it :)
ReplyDeleteAge 2-1/2 to age 200. It's a family event for us and no one is too old or too young.
ReplyDelete@jdcutler
Age 3-4 years to an age
ReplyDeleteBetween 3 and 10 and then 20 upwards
ReplyDeletei think around 6-8!
ReplyDelete4+ years - no upper limit!
ReplyDeleteMy son started at 2, i did at the age of 40
ReplyDeletenever too late. My mum just started at the ripe age of 77
ReplyDeleteI think age 7 is perfect! The age of my godson and he seems the perfect age playing with them! @cricrinapoli1
ReplyDeleteI would say 6+ @Amezeylady
ReplyDeleteI would say 4+ as long as the children can handle the pieces confidently and without getting frustrated. My eldest is just moving on to lego now as she and her little sister play with duplo instead - the little one can manage duplo so they build together.
ReplyDelete35 right - and as no-one else in my house is old enough I shall have to play with it in my room :)
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the person in question understands that putting Lego in their mouth is wrong, then they are old enough! And my 92 year old great-grandmother loved playing Lego with us!
ReplyDeleteI'd say around 3 :)
ReplyDeleteI would say when the children are out of the stage where they pop bits in the mouth. Lego isn't all small - there are some nice pieces to play with under supervision. So 2/3+?
ReplyDeleteI would stay 5, when little minds have amazing imaginations. However my family started with Duplo from 2/3. I love Lego now... I'm not young nor old
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the child knows not to eat the bricks they are old enough for lego, until this age they can have Duplo which is great fun but too big to swallow
ReplyDelete4+ to adult
ReplyDeleteI've just started with The Boy and he's 4.5, before then and he wasn't interested. Thanks for the competition.
ReplyDelete3-4 years of age and upwards with no limits :)
ReplyDelete3-4 years of age and upwards with no limits :)
ReplyDelete3-4 years of age and upwards with no limits :)
ReplyDelete3-4 years of age and upwards with no limits :)
ReplyDeleteI'd say 8 and up for the smaller regular size legos! BUT- I truly think it depends on the interest of the children....my nephews range in age from 3 to 17 and all love building at their own skill level!
ReplyDeleteThree and up xx
ReplyDeleteAny age, it is fab fun x x
ReplyDeleteI'd say 5+
ReplyDeleteAges 4+ to forever! Legos are fun for just about every age! DamianMom at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI think about 5 or 6 ideally x
ReplyDeleteWell, I get the Lego out when the grandchildren come, and we end up with people in their 50's, thirties, twenties, and aged 11, 5 and 3 all spread out over the floor busy with it. So maybe anyone aged under 110?
ReplyDeleteIts my daughters birthday week too.. and she LOVES Lego.. Se will be 7 and I think this is probably the age when they can really get stuck into some of the trickier stuff by themselves. And I am always willing to help..I could loose hours and hours building with lego..love the stuff!! Twitter: kyleewiley1
ReplyDeleteAny age from about 3! you're never too old! :)
ReplyDeleteprobably around 3 - 4 years or when you can trust them not to put anything into their mouths
ReplyDeleteMy 2 year old will happily play with his brother's lego. As long as they are supervised and over putting everything in their mouth then it's great for their fine motor skills :)
ReplyDeleteFrom 3 I think, just fun to help them if they can't put things together themselves.
ReplyDelete@novicecomper
Lego is for all ages but realistically from 3 my kids had duplo before proper lego lol
ReplyDeleteI think that from 2 then duplo is good and lego from 5. I still enjoy it at 31, so no upper age limit to enjoying it
ReplyDeleteabout 3
ReplyDeleteabout 5-6
ReplyDelete3 - 103 :)
ReplyDeleteFrom 4 upwards
ReplyDeleteI think about 4, although it depends on younger siblings as some of those bits are so small!
ReplyDeleteFrom about 3 or 4 and duplo for younger than this.
ReplyDeletemy son is 14 still and still plays with it (don't tell his friends!!)
ReplyDeleteAround 3, when they know it's not for eating!
ReplyDelete
