I'm a very lucky Mum this year. 3 of the children won't be at our house next weekend because they have commitments elsewhere, so they decided between them that it'd be a great idea to give me Mother's Day a week early. Fortunately for me, they didn't discuss this with my other half or the other children, and they weren't ready yet - so I'll get 2 Mother's Days! Yeeay!
For Mother's Day no.1 I got 2 boxes of Thorntons chocs and 2 gorgeous cards. I really wouldn't expect any more than that. Last year I did feel incredibly lucky, this year is promising to be even better....
It's really hard for me to switch off, there's always so much to do, so I decided the best way to do nothing was to ban myself from the kitchen....this worked really well until 3pm when I had to point out to my other half that actually no-one had been given any lunch, and the little boys were starving. My other half is blessed with a real inability to feel hunger! Fortunately once that had been pointed out, the teenagers all went off into the kitchen and mostly cooked some veggie burgers and chips. Things taste so much better when you didn't have to cook them yourself!
Next weekend not only am I banning myself from the kitchen, I'm turning it up a notch. I got a surprise parcel today from the folks at Virtual Bathrooms, who very kindly sent me a selection of pampering products including a Bee Beautiful Petal Passion Bath Bomb - so I intend to lie in the bath for an hour amongst the rose petals and feel like a movie star. I'm going to look forward to that all week, it's been months (or years) since I had a bath. I feel spoilt already....
Enjoy your relaxation, it's very well deserved. Mother's Day is two days after my birthday this week so I'm going to have fun!
ReplyDeleteYou most certainly are! That's going to be a cracking weekend :D
DeleteWhat lovely spoils already this week. Hope you have a fabulous week and weekend
ReplyDeleteThank you Angela - you too! (I'm eating a chocolate as I type...hehehe)
DeleteWhat a lovely idea and I'm glad you managed a bit of relaxation. Hope next Sunday is even more relaxing for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's just fluke the way it's happened, but I'm not complaining ;)
DeleteHave a good one yourself!
so sweet of them! enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen - I intend to :D
Deletelucky you having two special days and I couldn't agree more that a meal tastes better when you don't have to cook it!
ReplyDeleteIt's totally different knowing you don't have to cook it or tidy up afterwards! :D
DeleteAw what a lovely thing to do :) and what some lovely gifts enjoy your Mother's Day number 2 as well ;) x
ReplyDeleteIt really is. Thanks Sarah-Louise, you enjoy yours too :)
DeleteIt is really hard to switch off completely, kids and men just don't see the big picture as hard as they try!! Enjoy your bath and me time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I will do! I've reminded them today that I've booked the bathroom for an hour - and you're totally right, they just don't realise how much we just do! :D
DeleteEnjoy it! Unfortunately I live with a man who doesn't understand the word 'surprise'. But I have requested that I would like to watch the Malaysian Grand Prix in bed with my breakfast. Monkey wants to join me - that'll be a good start to the day.
ReplyDeleteThat will be a very nice start to the day, and 2 hours of lying watching TV sounds great to me! :)
DeleteOh sounds wonderful. I am glad you are getting chance to relax and unwind x
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you! It hasn't happened yet, but I'm determined!! :D
DeleteI would think you definitely deserve two Mother's Day- and glad your teens did something knowing they'd not be there on the actual day. Well done on bringing up thoughtful children.
ReplyDeleteHahaha....thank you! I don't know how much credit I deserve, there was an occasion 6 years ago where I got nothing, I don't think anyone's been allowed to forget it ;)
