Green Toys Recycled Plastic Rocket Review

I introduced Green Toys a few weeks ago, and our second review for them is the one that my boys really were desperate to get out of the packaging as soon as they saw it!

The Rocket is made entirely from recycled plastic milk bottles, has 2 opening doors, a removable top capsule and 2 astronauts.

My initial thought was that maybe this toy wouldn't offer enough to my 4 and 5 year old boys. Actually it turns out that to play spaceships, they just need a spaceship and a couple of astronauts - and their own imaginations.

It's chunky. but really easy to hold with one hand, even for a child. The opening hatches have a finger hole so they open with no problem, and then clip shut so the astronauts don't fall out in space. The capsule twists off really easily, but the twist is enough that it doesn't accidentally fall off.

Having 2 parts (and 2 astronauts) means that children can re-enact the moment the capsule breaks away and learn about parachute landings in the sea and breakaway in deep space, and 2 children can easily play together.

The moulding is lovely on this toy. When you look from a distance it seems fairly plain, but up close it's a different story.

Because the Green Toys are fully submersible, this is a brilliant toy to play with in the bath too! Splash-landings are preferable for real astronauts after all...

This is a lovely rocket that both of my boys are really pleased with. They've played with it a lot, and mainly together nicely. It has a great feel and is lightweight, but is robust enough I can't actually imagine it being broken.

Green Toys generally are priced higher than you'd usually expect to pay for regular similar items, but the quality, durability and longevity is superb. In this case for a 2 part rocket and 2 astronauts I feel that the price is extremely competitive, and you have the added bonus that it's entirely recycled and doesn't cost the Earth.

The Rocket is available in 2 red and blue designs and has an RRP of £19.99. It is suitable for children aged around 2+. My 5 year old loves this just as much as he would have done at 2.

We have also reviewed the Recycled Dumper Truck age 12m+ £19.99

We were sent our rocket to review as part of our role as Eco Friendly Green Toy Testers.

    1. I hadn't realised it came apart and I was worried they'd scrap over it, so I was delighted!

    1. I agree. It's really not ever going to go out of fashion' or look dated. It could easily be from the 80's or the 60's and you'd never know it :)

  6. This looks brilliant. I love that there isn't much to it and they have to use their imagination.

    1. It's great. There's just enough detail to get them guessing and thinking and trying to work it out for themselves :)
