I love my children's school....they know that to a young child family is everything, and they always talk about home and share stories and care about each other's lives away from school. It really enriches the children's knowledge and social skills, and encourages reluctant talkers. Two days ago my son came home explaining to me all about someone's baby brother's tongue tie, and yesterday it was a birthday so they all ate cake and sang.
Today 5 year old son's group made my partner a card. It's even got everyone's signature inside. It's the best Get Well Soon card ever, and possibly the cutest.
Must be working too, he had some scrambled eggs for tea :o)
After all the bad stuff we hear about schools in the media, its a real lift to hear what they did.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sweet. Between you and me - both of us had a lump in our throats ;)
DeleteI think most primary schools (certainly in my experience) are good at this sort of thing. E is always coming home talking about his school friends and their brothers/sisters/cats/fish! It is great to hear that your son's school is so good and that card is such a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteI do hope it's a nationwide thing, or at least an incoming trend, it's so lovely for the children. They really get a sense of community :)
DeleteThat is so lovely, what a fab school
ReplyDeleteI think so, it's so nice for them to be able to talk about stuff, I'm sure it helps because my 5 year old does worry a bit when people are ill.
DeleteThat is lovely, I think Schools should focus on family more (I know a lot say they are family focused, but….)!
ReplyDeleteFirst time I have heard of one doing something like this and I think it lovely!
Glad to hear 'him indoors' is improving too, today Scrambled Eggs….tomorrow a three course dinner (maybe!)
Pretty much! He's all better now, just shattered - he's been asleep on the sofa since 7pm. Cheers for your lovely comments Kel :)
Deleteso cute! This is great!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, but it's not as cute as you Eileen :P
DeleteOh that's so lovely. Our school isn't half as nice
ReplyDeleteNone of the previous schools have been this nice either. I was stunned when I saw the card! :)
DeleteThis is adorable what a great school you have there! I bet it helped the boys feel better about Daddy being poorly too xx
ReplyDeleteIt definitely did help. It was something nice to focus on :)
DeleteAwww have to fully agree - my daughter's class is so small and they all know everything about each other... and the parents!! Ha ha... Hope E feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteHahaha....kids eh? They'll tell you everything! :D
DeleteI cnrt wait till my son starts primary school! Makes him more aware of the things around him is cool! And yes that is the cutest get well soon card ever. #minicreations.
ReplyDeleteIt's an exciting time when they start school, but they do begin to take influence from their peers - it has good sides and bad! The cheekiness I can manage without!
DeleteAw, that's lovely. It's great they think of everyone.
