We've been sent a Toogiez t-shirt to review - and we have a pirate Toogy!
He's incredibly sweet and friendly, beautifully illustrated, and the material is very soft. He's full of microfibre filling, so he's really squeezy and light, and won't interfere with the child wearing the t-shirt at all.
The velcro is nicely done. Hidden in a star so that it fits the pattern and is really quite subtle. The character has the soft loop velcro on the back of his head, so he doesn't lose any of his cuddleability.
Annoyingly they have the t-shirt brand most commonly used for transfers and we have tons of their t-shirts here - but they are a bit thin, and it's a shame to go to so much effort and make such a nice product, then put it onto something a little lacking. This is a prototype though - Toogiez have just launched on Kickstarter.
Toogiez have outgrown the home industry and it's time for them to move on to large scale production. They've launched on Kickstarter and are hoping to raise the pre-orders to go into full production. Because my Toogiez t-shirt went awol in the postal system they're already 2 weeks into the campaign, but they have 12 days left to run, and are over half way towards their goal, so it's looking really promising.
My Toogiez had obviously been soaked through before I got it. It was missing in the post for a couple of weeks, and the envelope has clear water damage. Despite this, only the pirate's hat has bled slightly, but as you wouldn't usually get it wet and then leave it in an envelope to dry out by itself, I don't feel this is in any way a bad reflection on the product - more a good thing because it could have been so much worse!
Toogiez can be ordered via their Kickstarter page. Pledges start at $35 USD plus international postage (£21+4) for one t-shirt and 3 different Toogiez, so your child can pick whichever mood they feel they're in that day. I'm ninja most days myself, with a lot of pirate thrown in and the occasional bit of fairy magic...
I think Toogiez are a lovely idea. It works better than I anticipated because the plushy character is so soft and squishy. The designs are really attractive and the way the velcro works is really good. I can see a lot of younger children really benefitting from having their cuddly playmate with them, especially in new or scary situations, and the range of characters is excellent.

what a fab idea! i hope by the time my grandson is old enough I can buy one. Love it
ReplyDeleteThey are an excellent gift, and ideal for Grandparents to buy really :)
DeleteThis looks like something quite different and fun. I hope they do well even though my boy has out grown cuddlies (in public) ;-)
ReplyDelete:D Hehehe....my 'nearly' 6 year old has too. He said he didn't want one. The estimated age range is 2-6, and I think that's spot on :)
DeleteI don't think my son would wear this, but he's never really been interested in cuddly toys. My almost two year old would adore it though. She loves walking around with a 'baba' under her arm so she would find having one attached to her t-shirt awesome I think. They are super cute.
ReplyDeleteMy 5 year old wouldn't go for it either. I think if they're a 'teddy' type of child it works, but if they aren't then it's just not their thing :)
DeleteHow cute for little ones
ReplyDeleteThey are very cute. I know my daughter would have loved one - she thinks this is great :D
