August's masterpiece was Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh, and it was our 14 year old girl, plus the 2 little boys, who decided to take part in the challenge. We were given the Galt Art Jar, which is a huge tub of craft materials and some felt tipped pens in order to create our own masterpieces.
And then, having never really seen the full colour original, I left them to it....
I think it's lovely that all 3 had very different ideas about how the drawing should be completed...and how they should make use of the art set...
It's lovely that their personalities shine through in their art, and although none of them seemed to really take on board the actual 'Sunflowers' theme, I have 3 very distinct and attractive pieces of work for my fridge, with a huge variety of materials and techniques.
It would be remiss of me to let this post end here without mentioning that sadly now Sunflowers have a very strong place in our home and hearts, and I think if I presented these 3 children with this task now, it would have a very different outcome.
Anyone can introduce their children to the mini masterpieces, they're available as free printables from the Galt website, where there are absolutely loads of great ideas for different crafts and art projects, and plenty to fire the imagination.
I love it. Love the fuzz balls and googly eyes. Sometimes I glue or stick googly eyes random places to freak out/amuse people. Nothing like opening the fridge and the food is all staring at you. Or having the thermostat glaring at you.
ReplyDeleteGoogly eyes are the best. I'd go and stick them on our food but for the fact we gave the little boys some post-it notes yesterday and everything already has labels! x

ReplyDeleteYeah. They are all very individual and I think being able to give them all kinds of art stuff like that really allowed them to go for it :)

ReplyDeleteI have a craft box that I pull out on occasion, it is a bit better than a jar. I had a similar plastic jar before and things had a tendency to get warped or stuck deep down where my little midget hands couldn't quite reach.
