Transformers Prime Beasthunters - Battle For Darkmount contains the first 7 episodes from season 3 of the show. It takes place following the cliff hanger at the end of season 2 where Optimus Prime sacrificed his safety to save his army. The Autobots had to scatter and hide to stay safe, while the Decepticons gain strength in their new fortress Darkmount.
Shockwave returns to Earth with a plan to find all of the remaining Autobots and bring them together, but he will need the help of humans in order to overthrow Megatron and the Decepticons.
Transformers are always popular here, and this DVD is no exception. It's exciting and fast-paced, and my 6 year old especially enjoyed it immensely. The animation is quite Japanese, with semi-Manga humans. It's very smooth and actually very pretty with a lot of depth to the illustrations. The characters then have a softer feel, and the bad guys aren't really scary to look at, even when they're doing a 'world domination' speech. The storyline is quite involved, with flashbacks and retelling of important points, but I think children under 5 might find it a bit tricky to follow. My 5 year old watched in parts, but did wander off a bit. The 17 year old seemed to enjoy it too!
Transformers Prime Beasthunters - Battle For Darkmount is rated PG and has a running time of around 154 minutes - it is a really long DVD! Available from a multitude of DVD sellers and at the time of typing priced at £8 on Amazon.

My son had this very same Optimus Prime for Christmas and it's been played with absolutely masses since then. They're easy to transform, even for 5 year olds with small hands, and ours isn't broken, so they must be good and strong! They're quite small, but that is actually a good thing as my boys play with them alongside their other cars, so it works well.
