I know for a lot of my regular readers Halo isn't something you've yet experienced, but it's a game that's been played in our house for a few years now. With the classic 'genetically enhanced humans v's aliens' storyline, Halo games are rated around 16, so my youngest lads might know what it is, but haven't ever seen it played.
This is a BIG figure. The finished model is 9inches tall and the build has 161 pieces in 4 large bags.
As with the other Level 1 and Level 2 Batman and The Joker SpruKits sets we reviewed yesterday, the Level 3 Halo Master Chief SpruKit model is made from moulded plastic pieces still on the sprue. Remove each piece as you need it and build your model by clipping together the parts, with ball joints for shoulders, hips etc.
No tools are needed, no glue, no scissors, no paint. SpruKits Level 3 are amazingly articulated poseable figural models that will take you 2-3 hours to put together. Aimed at age 8+, the build is more complicated by far than the other SpruKits sets we've reviewed, yet still not frustrating and the instructions were really clear and easy to follow.
When you compare his head to the Level 1 New 52 Batman, you begin to get an idea of just how big this model will be.
As with the Level 2 models, the Level 3 SpruKits have extra hands, and in the case of the Halo Master Chief, 4 weapons.
You may have spotted some stickers there. Absolutely tiny at times, yet easy to position because they stick very well and are printed on thick metal sheet.
And here he is....
He stands so well, it really is amazingly easy to get him balanced into whatever pose you want. He does however come with a stand, and the most amazing detail in that a small peg fills the hole in his back when he's roaming, and the peg can be stored on the stand when the figure is attached.
The ball joints in the hips are also hinged, giving a much greater range of movement that is far more like 'real life'. Although Master Chief John-117 has on his full armoured suit, as in the game, it doesn't restrict his movement.
Our opinion of the Level 3 SpruKit Halo Master Chief is that it's excellent. The rrp is £49.99, and if one of our older children asked for it for Christmas I'd be happy with that. It's a nice build, and a really rewarding model.
I can never tire of moving him or making him 'do' something else. You can't even see his face, yet it is easy to give him any expression or emotion you want.
You can find our review of the Level 1 Original Comic The Joker and the New 52 Batman, and Level 2 The Dark Knight Rises Batman SpruKits sets on this page and Bandai have kindly offered a Halo Master Chief Level 3 kit as a prize for one of my readers. The giveaway can be found here....
SpruKits are available from Amazon and other retailers. Level 1 SpruKits sets have an rrp of £8.99, Level 2 are £15.99, and Level 3 £49.99
I used to play Halo with my OH and friends. It was such a great game. Shamed we dont have time to play the game. This Halo master chef look very smart. Can he share his sandwich with me?
ReplyDeleteHahaha - his sandwich is a bit crusty now! Halo isn't something I've played a lot, and yep, time is definitely one of the bigger problems there! :)
