Missing out on Geronimo meant we could still take advantage of the gorgeous weather, go North to the Lake District and watch my partner's parents take part in a Horse And Pony Event. We don't get to see them very often as they live 200 miles away, so it really was a lovely opportunity.
I've spoken about the Shetland Ponies before when we visited for Easter a couple of years ago and played in the 8 foot snowdrifts, but now some of the ponies have been taught to work as a team and pull a carriage. We arrived just as they were setting off on their turn to compete in the 'Dressage' round.
They did very well and came 2nd overall in the challenge and 2nd in the multiples class (5 entries). It was great to have some time in the sunshine, I think it did us all good...
And there was plenty of opportunity for exploration and exercise!
Plus we discovered what makes the perfect children's play equipment - a carriage! They spent about 2 hours playing on it pretending to fish, to be highwaymen, pretending to drive ponies, be cowboys and a host of other things.....just awesome....
I hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine too!
What a wonderful day and a great photos. Looks like you made some good memories. Hugs xx
