Drumond Park Barbeque Party Review and Giveaway

It's August, barbeque season is in full swing. Up and down the UK there are people who haven't created anything more complex than 'toast for 2' in the last year, attempting to sufficiently cook a full meal for 30 in the pouring rain, using nothing more than a small fire, a large fork and a comedy apron. But somehow, it's always good...

Drumond Park's Barbeque Party thankfully has weather-resistant plastic food - which isn't burnt to a crisp on the outside and raw in the middle. The barbeque itself is also somewhat cuter...

Inside the box is everything you need to get started (except 3 x AA batteries). Barbeque, tongs, grill, food, stickers, a deck of cards and instructions.

This is one of the less complicated Drumond Park games, and is suitable for 2-4 players age 4+. This is another game that suits almost the whole family, and no age group really gets an advantage. Set up takes a few minutes initially as you have lots of eye stickers you can put onto the food, but after that it really is as simple as taking it out of the box!

To play - Take a card from the top of the pile and check to see if your food is already on the grill. If it is then consider it cooked and take it for yourself, if not then you can add it to the grill. You HAVE TO use the tongs - no cheating and using fingers!

If the food stays on the grill while you are completing your move then good, but if the grill jumps and the food goes everywhere then you miss out that turn. The winner is the first person to collect 3 pieces of food.

We found that after a while playing some of the older members of our family especially got a bit complacent and too perfect, so we introduced new rules for variation including 'one hand behind your back' and 'use the wrong hand'. This maintained the level playing field and also added a bit more fun.

Barbeque Party is a great game to play with different generations of the same family. Each game only lasts around 10 minutes, and we've all enjoyed playing it. It's a bit of fun, and for the younger members of our family it's a way to strengthen hand muscles, develop hand-eye co-ordination and fine motor skills, learn about turn-taking and winning and losing, and spend some quality time together.

Barbeque Party has a recommended retail price of £19.99 and is available at all good toy shops and games retailers.

Drumond Park have kindly given a copy of Barbeque Party as a prize for one of my readers. Entry is by Gleam form below. No entries are mandatory, each extra task completed will give you another entry into the draw. The giveaway will end at midnight Friday September 25th. UK entries only.
