Dora and Friends DVD review and giveaway.

My two young boys liked Dora The Explorer when they were younger, but they are a little old for it now. Nickelodeon favourite Dora however is also aging it seems, and is moving on in the guise of Dora And Friends, featuring an 8 year old Dora and a new gang, as Dora has moved to a new house and school by the sea.

We've been sent a copy of the new Dora And Friends DVD to review and both of my boys really like it. It is a lot more 'mature' than little Dora, and suits junior school aged children. Dora and her friends still use occasional Spanish words throughout, teaching your child without them realising they're learning another language, and the essence of the DVD is friendship and celebrating what makes us different.

The stories are fun and there is lots of music throughout. The children are friendly and intelligent, and they encounter all kinds of interesting things, including pirate treasure and dragons and lots of magic, partly courtesy of Dora's magical charm bracelet. The animation is well done and in the same style to Dora And Friends, with 'cute' characters and lots of colour.

Dora And Friends features 4 magical adventures and has a runtime of 88 minutes. It is a certificate U, and is viewable by anyone, but better suited to children a little older, around 3 to 4 and above as the storylines are slightly more complicated. As an adult watching it is interesting enough to hold my attention to the storyline, although the bursting into song isn't as popular with me as it is with my 5 year old!

Dora And Friends is available now from all good retailers. You can keep up with Dora And Friends on TV and online at Nick Jr.

Universal Pictures have kindly offered a copy of Dora And Friends on DVD as a prize for one of my readers. Entry to the giveaway is by Gleam form below. All entries are optional and the giveaway will end at midnight on Sunday 25th October. UK entries only please.

I regularly review and give away children's DVD's. You can find all of my giveaways here...
