If you are of a nervous or prim disposition, run away quickly and go and look instead at my review of The Magic Tooth Fairy Game, or LOGO What Am I?. If however you enjoyed Gross Magic, then Og On The Bog is probably for you...
In the box we have Og in his 'shed', a spinner and a bag containing 20 loo rolls. The instructions are super simple. Switch him on and spin the spinner. If it says you can, approach the shed....
Press the switch to signify your turn and if he notices you he'll shout, so you have to turn away. If he doesn't shout then you can try to pinch a loo roll. Be careful though, or he'll realise and then he'll let out an enormous parp and the whole shed will blow!
When the shed collapses it's a real surprise, and it makes everyone jump each time. This is an hilarious game and perfect for youngsters. Both of my young lads find anything to do with toilets astoundingly funny, so they love this.
The winner is the first person to successfully manage to steal 3 or 4 loo rolls (depending on the number of players). The loser is definitely poor Og!
The game is designed for 2-4 players aged 5+, although I think children younger might be okay, as it's actually quite tricky to set him off! We made the game a little harder for adult and teenage players by placing one hand behind your back, and using your non-writing hand. This way we found it was much more even with our 5 year old - although he genuinely doesn't mind if he disturbs Og!
A great game, especially for the younger members of the family. For young children aged around 5-7 this type of game, with careful fine motor control, helps them to practise the skills they need to be able to write. It also helps teach turn taking and losing gracefully, and being able to succeed in winning or collecting loo rolls gives youngsters a huge sense of achievement.
Og On The Bog is available at all good board game retailers and costs around £22.99. It requires 3 x AA batteries (not included), but they seem to last a while!
I will be giving away 2 copies of Og On The Bog along with another Drumond Park game as part of my November Christmas present giveaway. You can keep up to date with my current giveaways here...
We were sent our copy of Og On The Bog for review.
