Wagamama Take Away Review

Who knew? You can actually get take away from Wagamama, and by an accident of fate I ended up being one of the first people in the UK to try their brand new take away packaging.

Wagamama Take Away Review

If you haven't heard of Wagamama, they are a restaurant that specialise in Japanese inspired foods - ramen noodles and rice dishes prepared with lashings of fresh, carefully chosen ingredients while you wait - and if you wish watch!

Last Friday I went as a 'plus 1' with Sim from Manchester Mummy to look at the brand new Wagamamas that has just opened in the Trafford Centre in Manchester - the biggest in the UK with nearly 300 seats.

We were treated to a great display of cooking from the Executive Chef Steve Mangleshot - who cooked Short Rib Ramen and Seafood Ramen, and then we went to take our seats and order - but the afternoon had over-run, and there was no time for us to eat before school pick up!

Thankfully the new take away containers were sitting there waiting, the new staff needed to be trained, the opportunity was perfect!

The packaging has been specially developed to be reuseable (we've thrown ours through the dishwasher already), and it keeps the different elements of your meal separate so that they don't mix and spoil the flavours or finished product.

Although the packaging keeps food warm for a good long while, I decided to save my meal until I could enjoy it properly later in the evening with my partner (closest to date night we'll get right now!). Steve Mangleshot had explained it would be fine to microwave, and it was. The food was still delicious and still tasted fresh, definitely the best take away I've ever eaten...(please be careful reheating food, especially with rice - it has a huge surface area and needs to be cooled quickly if you aren't eating it immediately, and reheated until it is piping hot! ).

I wasn't under any obligation to write anything as I was a 'plus 1' guest, but the staff and care taken, and my Yasai Ramen, were so lovely that it would have been rude not to.  Thanks to Wagamama for inviting us, and a HUGE thank you for ensuring I didn't go without my food!

    1. Takeaway Wamamamas does beat chips and peas most nights hands down! I was genuinely impressed too. Even though it had sat, it was still crisp and lovely :)

    1. You've missed out! I have only been 3 times now, but I ate a very different vegetarian meal each time - and they were all delicious :)
