Although Pip Ahoy! is most suited to younger children aged 2-6, my boys both enjoy snuggling on the sofa watching it, especially when they're tired after school. It's a calmer show rated as universally suitable, with an easily understood storyline and very distinct, likeable characters.
We previously reviewed Christmas Ahoy!, a special festive Pip Ahoy DVD. Welcome To Salty Cove is the first DVD from the TV Series as seen previously on Channel 5's Milkshake! and features 13 full episodes and an impressive 143 minutes runtime.
That is a big DVD for young children and represents excellent value - it's also far more fun for parents than when the children choose the same 30 minute DVD for 'TV time' day after day.
As I mentioned in my earlier Pip Ahoy! review, the style of the direction and animation (and inclusion of David Jason!) bring an air of nostalgia and familiarity to this animated show for the adults watching. The relaxed approach to character voices is amusing, natural, and very easy on the ear, and I'd much rather watch Pip Ahoy! with my children than most of the TV they otherwise watch.
Welcome To Salty Cover has some lovely little stories, and they all end well. There's a great emphasis on helpfulness and friendship, and Pip is actually a very likeable young man. The stories are simple and easy for youngsters to follow, but the style offers something for the adults.
Pip Ahoy! Welcome To Salty Cove is available from today on DVD and Digital Download at all good DVD stockists in store and online, priced around £10.

ReplyDeleteBefore kids!!! I went to Antigua and whilst we were there we took a boat trip to Barbuda and it was the most perfect beach with turquoise blue waters I would love to go back one day!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Hayle in Cornwall, 3 miles of glorious sand, reminds me of our caravan holidays when my children were small. Hopefully we will take the grandchildren soon.
ReplyDeleteHas to be Jacob's Ladder in Sidmouth, Devon. We visited it when I visited my grandad as a little girl as he lived at a house on top of the cliffs! It was the best beach as it had beautiful golden sand and a little ice cream shack that you had to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to!

ReplyDeleteGoing back many years before the Maldives was developed for tourism-Meerufenfushi was the loveliest place I've ever been. The island's "motto" was 'No news,no shoes'- there was no electricity (except for a few generators!); no hot water- we showered in rainwater caught on the roof of our hut; we ate whatever the fishermen brought in that day..it was idyllic

ReplyDeleteGreat Yarmouth is a fave of mine as a kid it was close enough that on a nice day our family could drive down there and get to spend most t day there.It mite not be t poshest or prettiest but it has such strong good memories for me its a winner.
ReplyDeleteI love Ferring Beach, because it holds lots of wonderful memories - we not only take the family there but also take our dog 'Rolo' there...used to take our other dog 'Sniff' who sadly passed away 6 months ago. My grandson loves it there watching Rolo dip in and out of the sea...there are not many beaches which allow dogs anymore so Ferring is one of the closest to us and it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI loved Cala Gracioneta in Ibiza. You had to walk around a cliff to get to it and it wasn't very well known so was often very quiet.
