Electronic Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! from Drumond Park Review

It's been far too long, but we're back with a new review for Drumond Park and we've been sent Sshh! Don't Wake Dad!, a battery-operated board game for 2-4 players aged around 5+.

The aim of the game is to move your counter around the board, even across the 3D Dad's tummy, until you reach the fridge where you can pinch a very tempting slice of cake. Be careful though, if you disturb Dad as you go past then he'll wake up with a jump and you'll have to return to the start...

Electronic Sshh! Don't Wake Dad from Drumond Park Review and Giveaway

Each player selects a playing piece and moves around the board by use of a spinner, travelling to the next available square with the matching colour. If the spinner points to '+' then you can take a card from another player, if it shows the slippers then you move to the space ahead of the leading player.

Electronic Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! Family Board Game Review age 5+

This is a lovely spinner that works incredibly well. The little characters and the playing cards are all well made and really nicely illustrated. As with most of the electronic games from Drumond Park, Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! requires 3 x AAA batteries - for the sound and to activate the 'waking' of Dad.

Most spaces then require you to press the alarm clock beside the bed a given number of times - if the alarm goes off then Dad wakes up! Caught players return to the start, but are given a card matching the square that foiled them, protecting them from that obstacle in the future.

Electronic Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! Children's Board Game Review age 5+

If the player is positioned on the bed when Dad wakes up, they're knocked (temporarily) right off the board. It's actually pretty funny when this happens and exactly the sort of thing a 5 or 7 year old loves.

To continue play you just turn him over and put him back to bed...

How does don't wake Dad turn back round

Each round only takes about 15 minutes and gameplay is so simple you can play straightaway out of the box, so Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! is a great family game for playing with younger players - even if they do get so into it that they want to sit on the table!

What does Don't Wake Dad game look like

We've really enjoyed playing Sshh! Don't Wake Dad!. Because each failed attempt to get to the fridge means another card and therefore another 'safe square', it gets easier and quicker each attempt and is never frustrating.

Sshh! Don't wake Dad! has a 'snoring' sound playing throughout, until Dad wakes up. This adds another dimension and makes you jump even more when he does wake up! There's a lot of laughing with this game. There are also quite a few 'nooooooo' moments when you are nearly at the cake and get sent back..

Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! is available from all good games stockists instore and online priced around £22.

Drumond Park offered a copy of Sshh! Don't Wake Dad! as a giveaway prize, that giveaway is now over. To see my live giveaways please go to my giveaways page...

  36. Loud music. I have worked shifts for many years, and found loud music the most disturbing. That is why we need to have Noise considered as a nuisance 9Anti-Social Behaviour) when it is at a level when others can hear it (those who have not chosen to listen to it).

It is worthwhile remembering that those in Emergency services etc tend to work shifts. They are aiming to get sufficient restful sleep so that they can attend work, care for the sick, injured etc.
