Digital Kids Show comes to Manchester this Autumn

Updated to add Minecraft Vloggers and other TV and internet stars and celebs! - see the end of the article!

This October the first ever Digital Kids Show will take place at Event City in Manchester. A 2 day event bringing to life digital entertainment in a fun a friendly format for children and their grown ups. Six different zones will ensure there is something to interest everyone - I'm just now sure how long we'll be spending at each!

I get tons of press releases each day and I read them, but mainly I don't have time or inclination to share, however when it's really relevant to my audience and something I think is pretty awesome, then it's great to be able to tell you about it.

The long-standing Children’s TV duo Dick and Dom will kick off proceedings - which is enough to get my teenagers giggling and wanting to go...hmmm...

The six zones will include:

Gaming and Retro Tech - well, what more do I need to say, this is one of our favourite things. The very best retro and next generation computer games and tech, everything from Mario to Minecraft. There will also be some of the latest VR gaming and gadgetry.

Digital, STEM and Coding Skills Zone – inspire your children to not only play, but make and learn with fun, practical challenges and experiences. Hands-on education for the future while you play.

Safe Tech Zone - helping to keep children safe online - and you and your tech. They'll provide the latest advice to stay one step ahead of the dangers and risks, from cyber bullying, predators, hackers and viruses.

Appletics and Kids Food Zone - celebrating the way tech can be used to aid healthy living. Step, boxing, cooking and tracking what your family is eating amongst other activities. Somewhat bizarrely you will also be able to catch Children’s TV favourite Mr. Bloom, as he stops by to say hello and sing songs. We have met him before - I don't think he'll remember us though...and he didn't sing to me last time...

Children’s Media Zone - get hands on and learn all about blogging, vlogging and social plugging. Famous faces from Nickelodeon, CBeebies and YouTube will be around to help your kids take some amazing selfies and give them a hint or two about their future career plans for filming themselves playing games or opening blind bags. This'll definitely be an area I'm interested in looking at...

Digital Angels Zone - tech experts help you get the most out of the tech you have. Tips and hints, and buying advice if you’re looking to invest in some new tech, so that you get the best deal and the products that are right for you. Find out what all the jargon means and what the important facts and specifications really are.

If you have party members who aren't so interested in digital fun, or you fancy a break from screens, there’ll be lots of traditional fun on offer too. Fairground rides, shows and performances on the main stage, a driving zone for 11-17 year olds and even some Halloween fun on Sunday 30 October (come in your best fancy dress).

The show has been created by online child safety expert Aisha Tilstone and 10,000 people are expected to visit each day. She is keen that it is really family friendly and wants to show parents and carers that the online world can be safe, educational, socially and in other ways rewarding. "It won't just be the children who are set to learn, mum and dad will get lots from attending.”

The Digital Kids Show will take place on 29th and 30th October at Event City in Manchester (next to the Trafford Centre). We will be there - and I am very much looking forward to it - I haven't told the little kids yet...

Update 29/09 -  MINECRAFT YouTube Fans: A host of the biggest Minecraft Vloggers will be at the show - AshDubh, LDShadowLady, Amy Lee, TomoHawk1989 and SmallishBeans, NettyPlays and Salemslady, as well as EthanGamerTV and MiniMattSmith, and Britain's Got Talent finalists Mythical PSM and Boogie Storm!
