Loony Quest plays in a similar way to a platform video game - players progress through levels, beating bosses, collecting bonuses and avoiding obstacles as they travel. The aim of the game is to stay alive and be the first to the finish.
Loony Quest can be played with 2-5 players, and you don't need to be a video game fan to enjoy it, but it probably helps and certainly makes it more amusing. Game play is pretty simple, and I've talked about it more in my Loony Quest review post.
Loony Quest is a really different sort of board game, and it does take some of the most fun aspects of platform video games and translates them really well into a board game using a series of cards, transparent plastic 'screens' and bonus/forfeit tokens.
The forfeits are very simple and very clever, and some of the drawings on the screens are hilarious enough even before you see how many points they did or didn't score for the person who drew them.

Well I just asked my eldest daughter and she said you would call her game 'Daisy Go Fetch' and Daisy the Dog would be the super hero dog as she would be on a quest to find all her pals stolen bones!

ReplyDeleteA random game about making it in the music world. Where you go round the board and have to do various tasks and then you pick a card which tells you whether the "judges" (on the cards) thought you were good or on and what happens next. If you are good you get to go through to the next round and the ones that don't have to leave the game. Obviously the more there would be more "cards" saying you are good than not. :) Sounds complicated.
