Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Christmas Gift Guide 2016

There are tons of awesome goodies out there for fans of the Harry Potter series, and the release of Fantastic Beasts has only added to the merchandise available. We've been sent a host of goodies to take a look at - Christmas came a little bit early...

Our children have all grown up with the Harry Potter books and movies, the older ones introduced the 2 youngest to Hogwarts long before they could read. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them may be a little darker than Harry Potter (and the youngest 2 might have to wait a while before I let them watch it), but J.K.Rowling's world of Wizards and Muggles is a fantastic shared interest for all of our children from 6 to 22...

The Harry Potter Hogwart's Crest Light from Paladone runs on either USB or 3 x AA battery power and has 6 LED's which shine through the slot-in crest, giving an awesome glow. The supplied USB cable is an impressive 5ft (1.5m) long.

The light is lovely and warm, and it is perfect for when you are relaxing in a bedroom. The Hogwart's Crest is still attractive in the day though, and it makes a nice addition to a corner or bedside table for any fan.

The Harry Potter Hogwart's Crest Light is by Paladone and costs £19.99.

Fantastic Beasts Fashion Sketchbook from Scholastic is recommended best for age 6-12 and has 96 pages of colouring and creativity in the 'art deco' style of the movie.

There are lots of different activities on each page, and it's quite a 'grown up' book illustration-wise, with simpler language and prompts. The illustrations have enough detail that you don't have to be a professional artist to create some lovely pictures, but there's also plenty of scope for completing and designing your own, and honing your creative skills. (Click on the image to enlarge and see it better).

is from Scholastic rrp £9.99 (currently £8.99).

The Fantastic Beasts Group Frame Maxi Poster is a nice bold one from GB posters for rrp £4.99 (currently £3.49). Crisp printing and lovely quality paper.

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Character Guide from Scholastic makes riveting reading for my son who hasn't seen the movie, and for my 17 year old daughter who has. Recommended for age 6-12+ and with 144 pages, it has everything you could ever need to know about all of the major characters, as well as a good few of the minor ones.

There's a huge amount of information in this book and it's beautifully laid out. It's a gorgeous book and will really interest any Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts fan. The photography and illustration are beautiful, the facts clear and concise.

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Character Guide is from Scholastic rrp £8.99 (currently £8.09).

Harry Potter Gadget Decals from Paladone are lovely thick waterproof stickers to embellish your gadgets. What more could any Harry Potter fan want than a crest on their tablet?! 27 decals on 3 sheets.

Nicely printed and a good variety of designs and sizes, so something for every Hogwarts applicant, with a good degree of shiny gold and silver...

The Harry Potter Gadget Decals are by Paladone rrp £5.99.

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Poster Book from Scholastic is a collection of 12 double-sided thick glossy card A4 sheets with gorgeous posters on either side.

The pictures speak for themselves, these are beautiful and would please any fan. Gorgeous artwork with the Art Deco 50's feel and muted shades of bold colours that anyone can appreciate. Very nicely executed.

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Poster Book is by Scholastic rrp £4.99 (currently £4.49)

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Official Calendar 2017 from Danilo is full of 12 big posters, with plenty of space to write - and light coloured plain background behind, so you'll still be able to read it. It's really nicely laid out.

The Fantastic Beasts style really is classic and beautiful, and this is a calendar I'd be happy to put on my wall. Sadly my 17 year old already bagsied it...

Panini have a sticker book for every occasion, and the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Panini Sticker Album is 2 sticker albums in one! Fantastic Beasts fill the first half of the book, before we have a whole new cover and a Harry Potter collection - you can have the book folded with either half showing.

I've only ever completed one Panini collection. Back To The Future. I still have it...and the sense of accomplishment. I think children will never tire of peeling the back from a sticker and trying their best to line it up perfectly with the space on the page. I think I learnt to count over 100 because of a Panini sticker book...

The Panini Fantastic Beasts/Harry Potter Sticker Collection Album has an rrp of £2.99 for the Starter Pack (Sticker Book and 31 Stickers). Sticker packs are 50p each.

Finally in our treasure box is this gorgeous Fantastic Beasts Mappa Mundi Maxi Poster from Pyramid. Available from various online shops and stores, prices vary.An absolutely stunning map of the UK, which is fascinating for any age group, and will be going on our staircase...

Have a Fantastic, not Beastly, Christmas...

  2. We were lucky enough to win tickets to see the premier of this. I've got a feeling my 11 year old is going to start collecting things to do with the film.
