Just So Festival August 18th to 20th 2017

I am delighted to say that we have the opportunity to return to the Just So Family Arts Festival again in August this year, and this time we should be camping! Yeeay! Just So is produced by Wild Rumpus, and provides an imaginative outdoor adventure that is truly like no other.

Just So Festival August 18th to 20th 2017

We've been twice now, and had the most amazing time. I've previously written a 2015 Just So Festival Review and  2016 Just So Festival Review, as well as a special post for the LEGO Scooby Doo Mystery Machine On Tour.

This year Just So Festival will take over it's usual site at the gorgeous Rode Hall Estate in Cheshire from 18th-20th August. There is a real emphasis on creating your own fun out of seeming very little, and all of the arts are celebrated.

This is a weekend of literature, theatre, dance, music, comedy and creative pursuits, and everyone is invited to join in with the tribal tournament - choose a tribe, comple activities and enter all manner of zany competitions to gain points.

Our favourite activity at Just So Festival really is the campfire. Songs and stories into the night, and maybe a few toasted marshmallows. Oooh, and science, explosions and giant smoke rings!! There was even a proposal last year....awwww...

If you want to avoid the crowds, you can, Just So Festival keep the visitor numbers low, and avoid queues and crushes. There are very quiet and peaceful areas for relaxing, napping and calm, and more active and popular areas around for more lively guests - the circus and pillow fight are not to be missed!

Everyone is catered for at Just So Festival, with Baby Bathtime, Tai Chi, Rowing Boats, Fairies, Pirates, Stone-Piling, Battleships and running round in the woods waving a stick and shouting RAAAAAAA.

New for 2017 are the Social Barn, with the Great Just So Bake Off. Silver Screen, where you be in IN a show movie, or just watch one. Lastly the Forgotten Garden, the beautiful Italian Garden hidden at the back of the Village Green behind Jitterbug.

The Jitterbug provides under cover dancing and music - and I've rarely seen it closed. Footlights, the stage area, hosts genuine acts, and although plagued by rain when we've visited, it was brilliant to listen to John Hegley a couple of years ago, and we've also danced there with our children to swing, pop and rock.

We've done papercraft with Paul Stickland, traded sticks for shiny stones and tribal points, climbed on a giant metal creature, and visited an amazing Lost Property Office. We found clues to a robbery, watched shadow-theatre and met The Gruffalo. Probably all on the same day.

The facilities at Just So Festival are excellent. The food is always beautiful quality - with good variety available for adults and children, and there are plenty of clean toilets, as well as staff and volunteers everywhere. It's almost a shame to ever go back to your tent...

Tickets for Just So Festival 2017 are available to buy now at 1 day, 2 day and 3 days with camping. Tickets are priced £130 adult/£50 child for the 3 day weekend with camping, or £50 adults/£20 child 1 day and booking fees apply. Under 3's are free.
