LEGO NEXO Knights: Season One DVD Review and Giveaway

My children love the LEGO NEXO Knights and are fans of the TV series, so they're very happy that Season One will be available to buy on DVD from TODAY - 13th February, and we've been sent a copy to review.

LEGO NEXO Knights Season One contains all 10 episodes - 212 minutes of action on 2 discs.

The Book of Monsters (Part )1
The Book of Monsters (2)
The Power of Merlok
The Knight's Code
Fright Knight
The Golden Castle
The Maze of Amazement
The Black Knight
The Book of Total Badness
The Might and the Magic

The high tech Kingdom of Knighton is in trouble and the five young knights, Clay, Aaron, Lance, Princess Macy and Axl need to protect their kingdom from Jestro and the Book of Monsters. The now familiar characters all come together and use their own distinct qualities to make a formidable defence.

In The Book Of Monsters, Jestro gets laughed at during the graduation ceremony for the NEXO Knight school, and as revenge he joins up with the Book Of Monsters to try and defeat the NEXO Knights.
Using its evil magic, he summons an army of dangerous Lava Monsters and attacks. It is up to the brave but inexperienced NEXO Knights to come to the rescue. In their amazing rolling castle and with the help of holographic Wizard Merlok 2.0, they have technology and NEXO powers, an incredible new digitized magic, on their side. But the Jester and the Book of Monsters have a sinister plot that may spell doom over the once peaceful kingdom.
Jestro and the evil Book of Monsters try to collect all of the magic books, but they are caught. An epic battle with Merlok the Magician ensues, and when it is over - Merlok, Jestro and the magic books have all disappeared. It's up to the NEXO Knights to find out where they are, and restore order to Knighton...

The Season One DVD comes complete with an exclusive free NEXO Power for the Lego NEXO Knights: Merlok 2.0 game app - which is free to download and play on IOS and Android.

In case you haven't seen NEXO Knights before, here's a 1 minute taster...

We like the NEXO Knights anyway. The LEGO sets are a favourite here with both boys as they have so much play value. The TV Show is fun and the mix of Knights and Tech is interesting and leads to some exciting adversaries. There is lots of tongue-in-cheek and self-referential humour, NEXO Knights don't take themselves too seriously. Even NEXO Knights are 'human', able to make mistakes and even fail.

The characters are strong and well-defined, and my boys both have their favourites. The animation itself is as you'd expect from such a huge name, incredibly slick and bright, with a great voice cast who really live their characters.

LEGO NEXO Knights, like the other LEGO movie and TV Shows, is well-written with the adults in mind as much as the children. The bad guys are never too scary, and the peril is always mild, but the action is all there. It makes perfect family viewing, but it'll also keep the kids occupied while you are busy elsewhere...
