Nerf N-Strike Modulus Regulator Blaster Review for Hasbro (age 8+)

Obviously we are Nerf addicts here and we accepted the offer from Hasbro to review the new Nerf Modulus with a large amount of pleasure. This is a huge Nerf Dart Blaster which can be adapted in a huge array of ways to make a really personal blaster.

The Modulus is a fully motorised blaster which requires 4 x C batteries - not included. Removal from the packaging is super easy and it's almost entirely recyclable card with a few rubber band ties.

This is a big box and there are an impressive array of parts to the Modulus Regulator. You can also mix and match with any other Nerf Modulus and some other Nerf parts.

Included are:

Motorised Nerf Regulator Blaster with Switchfire Technology - meaning you can choose between 3 different firing modes simply by moving the switch on the front.

Single Fire - fire 1 dart per trigger pull. Slow but strong and true with excellent aim.
Burst Fire - blast several darts per trigger pull.
Continuous Fire -  continuously fire darts until you run out or take your finger off the trigger.

Short Barrel Scope

Long Barrel Scope

Both barrel scopes can be used either for aim or to extend the barrel. They're both rifled and aim is actually really nice with the Regulator. Not quite pinpoint, but well on target.

Storage Shoulder Stock - actually a more handy addition than you'd realise - as long as you are 4ft tall or more.

Swivel Handle - I'm not a fan of this, but if you are getting really serious, or you just want to look like Rambo, then you can use it to stabilise shots.

2 x 12 Dart Clips - Unusually the Regulator comes with 2 dart clips, both of which can be stored on the blaster and it also has a flashing indicator light to let you know when you've run out of ammo. I find that more annoying than anything else, but the kids love it.

The Nerf Modulus Regulator comes complete with 24 Elite Darts in white! Easier to spot on the grass...and around the house for that matter.

If you do get a jam, there's the usual lock shut hatch to open and remove them. The blaster won't fire when this is open.

There are far too many different combinations to try and begin to mention them. Everything slots, slides and twists into place and it makes a sturdy, but really quick-change weapon.

The Regulator Blaster has a really nice aim and the transfer from 1 shot to burst to rapid fire is seamless, you can do it as you shoot.

Different sized people will prefer different arrangements. The age range is 8+, in common with motorised Nerf, and anyone smaller will struggle to use the blaster with a lot of the parts attached because it's simply too big for their arm.

Power is good. Notably stronger with single dart, but still the usual level of Nerf propulsion with rapid-fire.

The Nerf Modulus Range is excellent. We've previously bought scopes and lights and other additions to our Nerf Blasters, but with Modulus you are offered a lot more. You can mix and match across the range and even attach a small pistol underneath one of the scopes or use the huge rotating cartridge from the Hyperstrike Elite for continuous firing.

Likewise, you can of course take bits off your Modulus Regulator and use them on your other Nerf too...

The Nerf N-Strike Modulus Regulator Dart Blaster is suitable for age 8+ and available to buy now rrp £69.99. From all good toy shops instore and online, including Smyths and Amazon. If you have that budget to spend on toys and fancy spending it on Nerf, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We're big Nerf fans and have previously reviewed several for Hasbro, including The Nerf Hyperfire Elite, a more sedentary blasting experience with the Zombie Strike Outbreaker Bow and for those of you who like water, the Floodinator.

We were sent our blaster for review.

    1. Hahaha :D I always want the Zombie Strike crossbow, so none of the kids fight me for it, but as long as I'm out of the way until they waste their ammo, I always win :D
