Traditionally we have a 'get to know you', so here are my answers to the BlogOnX Introduce Yourself Linky...
1. Share a recent photo of yourself.
I'm holding a pot of keyrings I won on the 2p machines - I am easily pleased. PS. I do love Foo - Dave Grohl is genius. |
2. What’s your favourite pizza topping?
I can't stand cheese and I'm vegetarian, so I make my own using tomato puree and a mix of herbs, garlic, red onion and mushrooms.
3. You can have dinner with any three guests dead or alive - who do you choose and why?
Nicola Tesla, Elon Musk and Bill Gates. I'd ask them if there was a secret League Of Extraordinary Billionaires and if they were ever going to release the secrets of perpetual free power, or if we have to remain a capitalist society forever.
4. Up to now what would you consider being your biggest life achievement?
I saved a man from a house fire in 1996. I watched his eyes come back to life. It was the first time I realised a single person can make such a huge difference simply by not walking past. Then I went home in shock and barely mentioned it, but it has never left me.
5. If you woke up tomorrow as a character from any Disney film or book who would you be and why?
Wheezy from Toy Story. He seems apt - I'm very anaemic at the moment.
6. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I don't fully shut the curtains, so I always look out of my window and judge the weather from the trees outside.
7. If you won the lottery what would be the very first thing you would buy and why?
A house. I hate renting although generally our landlord is good.
8. What is your favourite quote from a movie?
"Just keep swimming" is my mantra, but I tend to say "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope" a lot. It deserves credit.
9. If you were a superhero what would your super power be?
Superspeed - I could get everything done then.
10. What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
As a teenager I used to babysit for a truly wonderful woman who had to leave home at 15, but started her own business, did well and lived a very fortunate life. She once stopped the car on the way home and turned to me and said "I did it Jenny, it's all me. This isn't all there is. One day your life can seem like it's all hopeless, but that isn't forever". Then she started the car and dropped me at home. Every time I feel like giving in, I remember what she said and how many times over the years it's proven true.
11. Which emoji do you use the most?
The laugh emoji. I do smile a lot. And I'm very old. I don't feel shock at someone's child defecating and wiping it over the TV, I was only shocked the first time. Now I just find it hilarious. Mainly because this time it isn't mine.
12. If you could go back in time and tell yourself anything what would it be?
Don't smoke that cigarette. It's not big and it's not clever. And you will suffer for it later.
13. What do you currently have set as the wallpaper on your phone?
Not this one. It's another photo of my 2 youngest boys, but I don't know where to find it to share it, so this'll do.
14. If you could do anything in the world as a legitimate job what would you do?
Be nice to people.
15. Where is your favourite place in the world?
Iceland or Norway. I've not been yet, but I will. I'm not built for warm, I'd much rather bundle up and play in snow.
If you are at BlogOnX then go and fill in the linky yourself - introduce yourself. I have every intention of being there on the door so say hello! Don't be shy, everyone kind of recognises everyone else, but isn't sure if it's from real life, blogs, Facebook groups, Instagram or heavens knows where. Just smile and say 'Hiya' - it's how some of the best friendships start......
A house is what I'd buy too! Hate renting but similarly to you, our landlord isn't too bad. Will see you there!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Be good to meet you :)
DeleteOoh, I'd love to go to Iceland too. Saving someone's life is a pretty big achievement in anyone's book - it's amazing to have affected someone's life as dramatically as that! See you there ...
