Foxy Pants Family Game Review And Giveaway For Drumond Park (Age 4+)

It's September and one of our favourite brands are back with some new games for this Autumn. Foxy Pants from Drumond Park is a great active family game that makes your children squeal with delight and excitement. This is a fox who overfills his pockets and suffers the inevitable consequence. When his pants fall it's your job to grab and save as many of the chickens as you can.... It can get quite frantic.

The game is suitable for 2-4 players aged 4+ and as you'd expect, everything you need is in the box, including 1 fox with pants, 21 chickens, 4 chicken coops, 1 dice and instructions.

There's a little bit of set up placing stickers and working out exactly how the fox and his pants work, so allow 10 minutes before first play. You have to tug the pants out quite hard and it does feel wrong the first time.

Take a couple of minutes to look at the fox and you'll see his arms also open slightly wider, as if he's pretending to be a chicken. This is how you 'prime' him for a new match. Incidentally before you start, the first player to roll a dice is decided by who does the best chicken impression.

When the pants fall they do it rapidly. They are actually triggered by the movement of the fox's head and pulled straight into the body of the fox. It makes you jump every time!

Gameplay is really simple. Throw the dice to see how many chickens you need to place in the fox's pockets. Then give his head a little press downwards. If you are unlucky he'll trigger and the pants will vanish. Chickens fly everywhere. It works incredibly well.

When the chickens escape, you need to grab them with only one hand, and one at a time. The first person to fill their chicken coop with 5 chickens is the winner. It's a very quick game and lasts us around 5 minutes each round - then often another 5 minutes to find a stray chicken that was knocked off the table in the melee!

Noisy and really exciting, Foxy Pants is a hit here and the children especially love it. The 'pants' mechanism works beautifully and catches you out every time, and everyone has a chance of winning.
