It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but is suitable for 2 or more players aged 4+ and I think the younger members of your family might just find it highly amusing....
Inside the box is everything you'd need, including a spare backside in case you burst yours (there's a phrase I never thought I'd type). Included are the monkey himself, who is called Mr Buster, 1 monkey tail, 2 monkey butts, 1 monkey base, 1 spinner.
There isn't a lot of plastic packaging and opening is instant. No batteries required and assembly takes seconds, so this is very Christmas-morning friendly.
It's all very colourful and well made. You have to ensure your butt is firmly attached or else air escapes and it doesn't inflate as it should. This caught us out a few times, although it does seal properly if you press it on firmly. User-error.
The butt inflates when you pull Mr Buster's finger. It springs back and takes a few pulls before it really inflates, which can be a bit frustrating for the children. It's also quite hard to do - you need a good strong pull! It's effective though and at some point the valve will release and you'll hear a varied, but definite, fart sound.
The aim of the game is simple. Spin the spinner and follow the instructions, pulling the monkey's finger as many times as you are told to. If he farts, you're out of the round. The winner is the last person left in.
If you don't pull his finger quickly enough in succession, his butt actually has time to deflate. It can mean that if players spin a few 'skip turns' or 'reverses' then by the time the next person pulls, you are back to the start. The length of time before the butt parps ends up varied and random, so it really makes you jump occasionally - which is always funny.
Mr Buster's face I find a bit creepy. I know my youngest did too. He's not a friendly looking guy, despite the smile. He has got incredibly cute feet though...
Hints:
- Take turns swiftly so that the butt doesn't deflate between pulls
- Make sure the butt is attached correctly or else it won't inflate
- Pulling the finger and letting it go seems to inflate the butt more quickly than a quick pull
Each game takes around 10-30 minutes depending on the number of players and it's ideal to keep the younger members of the family busy for half an hour.
I've raised 5 boys, I've heard all the fart and butt jokes ever. I have to say this sort of humour does very little for me and my boys didn't find it as funny as I expected, although they would have done a couple of years ago. I think the target age range is just a little lower than us and this game is best suited to families with children aged 4-8.
