Scholastic Book Parties - earning money for yourself and books for your school.

If your childhood was like mine then a highlight of every term was the Scholastic Book Club Catalogue of dreams. Full of colourful and exciting books at reduced prices, my parents always allowed me to choose a book and the day the delivery came was something very special.

I've worked with Scholastic now for over 3 years and all of the children's books in this post were sent to us by Scholastic for review over that time. There are some excellent books from some amazing authors...

Nowadays we don't have to wait until the new catalogue release, we can buy from Scholastic online all year round. All of the books are available at prices that are discounted from the recommended price by up to 70% and they've been specially selected by Scholastic, so you know they'll be good.

Scholastic arrange their books by reading age, so you don't need to read them yourself to know if they're suitable, and I've always agreed with their age suggestions. They have books for children of all ages and the website is very easy to navigate.

Another way to spread a love of books and reading is by becoming a Scholastic Book Champion and hosting Book Parties. You also get your own online shop, which you can share and use to host online book parties.

Scholastic Book Parties are a great way for parents to earn some extra cash (especially useful this time of year) and when you partner with local schools and nurseries, you can also earn 10% back in free books for their libraries and classrooms.

Working from home with flexible hours to suit you is ideal for parents because you can work term time and school hours. Scholastic Book Champions pay a £15 joining fee and can start the same day. Choose which options work best for you and earn 20% commission on every sale you make. The books are always discounted at up to 70% off rrp, so you are offering a good deal to the buyers too.

Before signing up to anything like this, always read the terms and conditions. In this case a £25 web hosting fee will be payable after 3 months, although that and the joining fee are waived if you sell enough books. You'll also have to pay for any demonstration bundles or any other books you order if you don't sell them!
