The contents pages immediately tell you there's a lot in this book, and everything is split into different sections - Ride The Waves, Awesome Asia, Sky's The Limit etc. There's a 'welcome to Minecraft' section and then lots of explanation and hints for the reader, to give them a good grounding before they start.
The hints and expert tips carry on throughout the book, so there is always something new to discover and another clever device to try out! There are also examples of builds and build techniques to offer inspiration and new possibilities to the builder.
The 30 main build projects range from easy 1 hour builds like a farm or an igloo, through to immense megastructures such as the castle or aircraft carrier, which will take an amateur masterbuilder around 3 hours or more to complete. They are all 'doable' though, nothing is ridiculously hard.
The build instructions are really clear and easy to follow, and the smaller size of the book itself makes it all a very easy to use system which works very well. The book stays open nicely too, so you shouldn't lose your place too often.
My boys were very excited when they saw this. They've both really enjoyed creating the models in the Minecraft STEM Challenge books we reviewed last year (Build A City and Build A Theme Park), and their skill levels have really increased. Equipping your child with extra engineering, maths and problem-solving skills can also be a massive boost to their imagination and creativity.
I think this is anm excellent book for any Minecraft fan who has reached their own personal build limits and wants to start learning from the experts. Simple hints and tricks like trapdoors and different ways to build a roof can really add to any build and massively enhance your game experience.
