Starring Isabela Moner,Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, and Danny Trejo, it has an all-star cast and everyone has grown up since the animated series...
When the movie starts you think you'll be watching a live action version of the animated TV show for young children. We are introduced to Dora and her family, including cousin Diego, and their unusual animal-filled life in the jungle.
After meeting Dora's talking backpack, suddenly everything changes, and you are 10 years into the future. Dora's behaviour is the only thing that hasn't changed, and it's causing a bit of an issue (and plenty of laughter).
Dora's parents have noticed she isn't maturing and learning how to function in the modern world as she should. They think lack of interaction with other teenagers and the urban world is the problem and send her off to go to school in America, with her cousin Diego who moved to the city 10 years ago.
Obviously Diego isn't entirely delighted at the idea of his loud and strange cousin joining him at high school, and she doesn't understand how high school teenagers work. They both suffer a bit of bullying, which doesn't bother Dora at all, so it fails. She teaches a valuable lesson to those around her.
High school alone isn't exciting and dangerous enough, and very soon Dora becomes a target for bad guys who have a score to settle with her famous explorer parents.
When kidnapping Dora and removing her to the jungle, the bad guys (who are also eco-terrorists) accidentally also kidnap 3 of her friends. All the 4 kids have to do is find Dora's parents, rescue them and return everyone home safely.
This is a movie aimed especially at children who might have grown up with Dora The Explorer cartoons, and are ready for a slightly more mature adventure, but it's a good-hearted, funny action movie we can all enjoy. Here's a little look and some words from the cast and crew...
The Digital and Blu-ray releases also have lots of bonus features, including hilarious bloopers, deleted and extended scenes, a look at Isabela Moner’s transformation into Dora, a tour of Dora’s Jungle House, and more.
