Glow Art Drawing Board (age 3+) Review And UK Giveaway (sent for review).

The Glow Art neon light up drawing board from Glow Art Kids is a fantastic tool to encourage creativity, artistry and even writing skills. It's a completely different way to create some brilliant images that are nothing like drawing on paper or card, and it's completely portable and lightweight.

We've been sent the Glow Art Drawing Board for review, and Glow Art Kids are also giving away one to my readers as an early Christmas present...

Glow Art Drawing Board in box

The board is packaged in card, and plastic protective bag and film, which is very easy to open. Not exactly Earth-friendly, but pretty justifiable, as you don't want a scratched screen before you start. You'll need 3 x AA batteries and a tiny crosshead screwdriver, and then you're ready to go. Pretty Christmas morning-friendly.

Glow Art Kids light up LED Drawing Board in opened box

This is the original light up drawing board that Glow Art first started using 7 years ago for demonstrations in Hamleys. Unlike other kid's drawing boards, it's transparent and double-sided, so you can use it to trace, and you can draw on both sides. That opens up a lot of possibilities.

The drawing board is really lightweight, which at first I thought might affect it's robustness, but having watched my boys drop it a few times, it seems sturdy enough. The small size and weight mean you could easily take it with you anywhere, but it still offers a good sized space for drawing. There's a small pull out stand which looks a little flimsy, but it holds really well when in use.

The Drawing Board comes with a pack of 4 'Fluorescent Markers' which are really excellent. They're almost more like a paint pen than a felt tip, and it's very easy to add bold, deep colour, even to larger areas. They dry-wipe away easily, but don't seem fully washable, so if your child is younger, you might want to reserve them for yourself.

Once you've done your artwork, message or practised your handwriting skills, you can cycle through 36 different lighting effects to bring out the neon effect and really make it glow. These are LED's, so batteries will last a good while. There's also an on/off button - you don't have to scroll through them all to turn it off!

The Glow Art Drawing Board offers a lot to children of any age. Youngsters can scribble, mark-make and get the hang of writing letters, older children can write messages and practise their art skills. You can also play around with things like perspective - and different coloured lights for different moods...

The colours you draw or write with don't only 'light up' with the LED lights, they can also disappear, or change to something completely different. It means if you want, you really can get very clever. There are tons of ideas and templates on the Glow Art Kids website to give you inspiration.

I think we've all enjoyed playing with the drawing board. I haven't even managed to photograph most of the drawings and messages we've had on it already. It's designed for kids, but some parents might just enjoy the Glow Art Drawing Board just as much.

The Glow Art Light Up Drawing Board for kids is available now in a choice of black or pink, priced £19.95rrp, including direct from the Glow Art website, and select games and craft suppliers, including Amazon.
